My New Bag

At the end of my recent Fairy God-Sister post I said I was making a new bag for myself.  Well, it is all done and dusted.
Tada..........

I really love my new bag.  It is wonderfully spacious - something I really need because I seem to always have a lot to cart around.

The fabric range I have used is Echo by Lotta Jansdotter.  I had been in love with this fabric range for ages before we had it instore at Ballarat Patchwork.  When it came in I grabbed some quickly.

The pattern I have used is Black Forest by Australian designer Melly and Me

I modified the pattern a little by adding internal pockets to the lining on both sides of the bag.

I love the little pleats on the outside pockets - just a lovely little design feature.

top stitching on the straps and the button closure

turning the bag and lining right sides out

A few years ago on a girl's drive into the countryside with my Fairy God-Sister we happened on a great button shop that had all manner of vintage buttons.  I bought this large celluloid button just because I loved it and, what do you know, it works with this project perfectly.

So thanks to my new little beautiful black beauty (all the sewing was done on her - I should tell you her name is June after my Beloved Grandma) I have a new modern bag.

I will be entering my bag into the Sew Sweetness Purse Palooza Flickr competition (on flickr I am Knitting Maide).  There are many fantastic bags linked up.  Go and take a look.

Until next time, happy quilting, knitting, sewing, crafting ....

    1. Thanks sew much for your lovely words. I purchased my pattern from Ballarat Patchwork in Australia where I work - www.ballartpatchwork.com.au. I'm not sure if there is an American source although I do know Melly and Me products are sold in the USA. Good luck. Cheers, Karen

And I know it is soppy (but then so am I!!) but I could feel my Beloved Grandma beaming her approval with every stitch stitched. Thanks for hosting the linky party so we can all see and be seen.
