The Multi-Purpose Carry All Bag and Blog Hop

It's done!  Yippee!  Hooray!  Woo Hoo!

I have sooo enjoyed the journey of creating this bag.  Right from the first step of choosing the fabric - Fresh Cut by Heather Bailey, through the designing of the bag (originally done for a Modern She Made Flickr swap), and 'oh the sewing, sewing, sewing', SIGH!!!, to the photography (thank you my good friend) and lastly to the pattern writing.

Like all journeys it was not without its ups and downs or its dramas (but if I told you what they were I would have to kill you!!!!!  a girl has to have her secrets you know. lol).  And now it is time for show and tell.

I wanted to create a bag that was not only very pretty but also pretty functional for all manner of different tasks.  I am pretty happy with how it has turned out.

an interior that combines different size pockets along both sides of the lining, large enough to fit quilting rulers, books, small stitching hoops.  Or for something different babies stuff, kids toys, Mum's survival kit!!

the best thing, though, is a padded interior gusseted divider section 2" wide.  wide enough for a large quilting hoop and big books, ipads and laptops.  padded for protection and security.

still on the pocket theme, external end pockets wide enough for a 6 1/2" quilters ruler, babies bottles, etc

nice long handles so you can carry it on your shoulder, freeing up your hands to hold all the important things - latte, keys, or a precious child's hand!

the bag is lined with Peltex 71F fusible interfacing to give it a very sturdy structure.  the bag will stay upright on its own and won't collapse the minute you let it go.  great protection for everything inside.

Giveaway is now closed
See winner here

As part of the Quilter's Gallery Blog Hop I am giving away one copy of this pattern together with four metal "O" rings to make the bag.

Please leave me a comment telling me what purpose you would use the bag for.  Also, please become a follower of my little blog - you can choose Google Friends, Bloglovin', Linky Followers, rss or email - if you choose email, the best way not to miss any posts!!, just remember you have to verify your subscription with the return email notice from Feedburner. If you are already a follower (thanks!) just leave me a comment telling me so.  I am more than happy to mail internationally.

At the end of the giveaway the winner will be chosen by my special random number generators (some of you have met these little smiling folk before!).  Please make sure you have enabled your return email notifications or leave me your email so I can let you know you are a winner.  The giveaway runs from August 25th and finishes September 3rd.

So, I hope my pattern appeals to you.  You can purchase it from my Etsy shop or my Craftsy shop.

  3. What a beautiful bag. I would it as a big purse, I love all of the different sections to avoid the whole everything-at-the-bottom-of-the-purse syndrome.

This would be perfect for holding all my stuff.

  166. Wow - nice bag! I think with all those dividers it would be the perfect bag for me - on the go all the time. I like to have a book and a sewing project with me, and I have little kids too so I could use this bag in place of my purse and have a little bit of everything with me all the time. Love it!

  167. I just signed up to follow your blog. I love the bag, it would be great for any number of things. I think I would use it when I go to work. I always have papers everywhere, ipad, bills to pay, and of course something to quilt. I would make this bag to be used to carry all of these things.

  169. I would love the pattern! I'd make the first bag for one of my daughters who loves purses/totes and this would be great for her new teaching job!

  171. Fantastic pattern! I love that it has the padded interior and can stand up on its own. I'd use this as a purse because I tend to carry everything but the kitchen sink in my purses and this one would hold it all.

  172. I love this bag! I would use it as a lunch bag for work. Or maybe a "take my knitting to work" bag, lol! :)
